Mental Health & Counseling
We provide education, information, therapeutic services and counseling aimed at preventing, treating, and reducing substance abuse among participants. Our active therapeutic interventions help to avoid imprisonment, hospitalization, and early admission to convalescent facilities.

Medical Care & Transportation
We ensure that 100% have both access and transportation to medical care. According to The Urban Institute, over half of the disadvantaged adults surveyed reported at least one physical health problem. We will take participants to clinics and we will teach or provide training resources dealing with health issues including Diabetes, HIV, High Blood Pressure, addiction, depression, and medication management. Lack of healthcare awareness affects people's ability to be successful in everyday life. Some participants will identify their healthcare resources available in the community at low and no cost to manage their ongoing health needs.

Education
Our programming provides the opportunity for education to 100% of program participants. Support and resources are dedicated to participants obtaining their high school diploma or GED, attending trade school, vocational school, or community college, and entering Job Corps or the military. Education increases opportunities for more education, for better career and job choices, and for higher income potential. This helps participants to achieve significantly more.
We provide the opportunities and resources to underprivileged individuals to keep them off the street, promote higher education, attain scholarships, and to provide the tools to make positive change in their lives. The objective of the program is to improve self-sufficiency measures of good citizenship, personal accountability, and serve as a vessel for participants to utilize and develop skills that will help them grow into dynamic/successful adults.

We offer training and assistance in obtaining and retaining suitable jobs to program participants. We will conduct pre-employment skills training, assist with the job search process, and provide job retention counseling. Participants must know what it takes to get a job, keep a job, and advance in their chosen jobs and careers to have a stable life.

Supportive Community Building Services (SCBS)
Our SCBS Program is a 14-week life-skills training program serving individuals with issues of homelessness, addiction, mental health and/or histories of incarceration. Generally, one or more of these issues has caused significant disruption in their lives. Taught by our skilled, compassionate instructors, at-risk participants learn to identify, pursue, and succeed in careers and educational endeavors that are a match for their interests, abilities, skills, and work values. Limited literacy, incomplete education, and a lack of facility with the English language makes it difficult for many of our at-risk participants to complete applications for jobs or housing, understand a supervisor’s instructions at work, or participate in training programs. This, in turn, prevents them from breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Along with a skilled staff, Delta’s Development Foundation engages compassionate volunteers from local agencies to help guests gain these and other skills they need to rebuild their lives. Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program, staffed by volunteer educators, is designed as a drop-in, all-level program, meets three days a week. The curriculum is tailored to the needs of our at-risk participants. We strive to offer culturally competent instruction and focus on helping participants develop the language skills required for work and other real-life situations, such as making appointments, filling out applications, and communicating in the workplace.

Delta’s Development Foundation Advocacy Program focuses on public policy solutions to the problems of homelessness and poverty in Los Angeles, NC and the greater Los Angeles County area. Our work is informed by the direct experiences of Delta’s Development Foundation clients and staff. Delta’s Development Foundation partners with direct service providers, other advocacy groups, and individual community members to identify issues that need attention. While continuously working with these representatives, we develop recommendations for local and national funding, policy, and law. We will also testify and meet directly with Los Angeles city officials to share Delta’s Development Foundation’s experience and policy recommendations. At Delta’s Development Foundation, we know that city officials attend, above all, to the will of the community. Therefore, we seek to engage Delta’s Development Foundation clients and staff in communicating with policymakers. We also seek to inform and engage all concerned citizens as partners in our Advocacy Network.
